Job Opportunities

WANTED****  2nd Year Student Veterinary Nurse ONLY - Full Time

We are looking for a warm, welcoming and enthusiastic 2nd Year Vet Nurse to come and join our progressive practice and experienced nursing team.

Under our new Head Vet Nurse Louisa, our team are getting to do what they do best, nurse!   The team has recently be re-organised to make sure that whilst they all utilise their best skills fully, they are also fully supported in areas they feel less confident in.

We have been training Student Vet Nurses since 2001, and we currently have 3 Clinical Coaches who are all very experienced .  All of students get plenty of time with their Clinical Coach, and the majority of our students passed their VN exams first time.  Our ethos is that good training is important to the individual and practice as a whole.

Our practice provides a high standard service and care, which is something we pride ourselves on.  For example at KVG we are one (if not the only one) of the only practices in the south west who use Sevoflurane for all anaesthesia including routine operations, rather than the older Isoflurane. Our pets deserve the best!

We offer no regular on call or Sundays.  Saturdays on a 1:7 rota working till 4pm, and some evening shifts up to 8pm would be involved.  If you are interested in joining our friendly and exceptionally talented nursing team, then please send your application letter and CV to the practice manager, Deana Schneidau, on

Closing date Friday 29th September 2017 at 5pm.

Vet Students

We frequently have students with us during vacations and welcome applications from student vets and nurses. To stand the best chance of getting a placement please give us plenty of notice. Unfortunately we are unable to provide accommodation for students.

Please send applications to with the dates you are looking for.

Do you want to work with animals?

Lots of people want to be a vet or a vet nurse but it isn’t always easy to get into vet school, or get placements at nurse training practices.

We want to support future vets and vet nurses, so we work with local schools and colleges to ensure young people are better placed for the world of work (with the necessary skills and motivation) and that students of veterinary science are given the opportunity to fully understand the day-to-day aspects of their chosen career.

We accept applications from people looking to undertake work experience who are in full-time education and are applying via an approved scheme.

  • For school work experience the application for the placement must come via the school and not from the individual.
  • If you are looking for experience at weekends or school holidays please write to us with the dates you are looking for.

We are always keen to provide the opportunity to those who desire to gain experience in a veterinary practice, but as you can understand we are often over-subscribed, especially during the summer term and vacations. Many thanks for your understanding.
